General

A Schnauzer is a German breed of dog, which is hairy and furry. Schnauzers were originally bred in Germany to be rat catchers, as guard dogs or simply as yard dogs. Schnauzers are of three types - giant, standard and miniatures. Today they are popular as pets, and a common way of procuring one is through professional Schnauzer breeders. They are experienced with this breed, and take the trouble of keeping each dog’s family history. Sometimes, families with a Schnauzer pair find themselves with pure bred puppies, but are unable to take care of them. They have the option of leaving the puppies with Schnauzer rescue centers, where they are permitted to stay till someone comes to adopt them.

Schnauzer rescue centers also take in abandoned Schnauzers or those that have become lost, and provide love, food and care till they find a permanent home. Adoption of Schnauzers generally comes at a cost. The fee charged goes towards the upkeep of dogs. Schnauzer rescue places are found all over America. Once adopted, when the dog has to be taken home, it is preferable to do so in special dog crates. Dog crates must be the right size to ensure that the dog is comfortable and reaches its new home safe and happy.
